Benefits

The COVID-19 Public Health Emergency period officially ended on May 12, 2023. This means that COVID-19 testing and testing-related services, including over-the-counter tests, will no longer be covered at 100%. Services received at your provider’s offices will be subject to deductibles, coinsurance, or copayments depending on which health plan you are enrolled in. Over-the-counter COVID tests are not covered by the health plan. The COVID-19 vaccine will still be covered at 100% as it is considered preventive care.

As of Monday, September 25, the federal goverment is once again offering free at-home Covid-19 test kits. Orders can be placed for up to four COVID-19 rapid tests per household at www.covid.gov/tests.

The goal of the South Dakota State Employee Benefits Program is to offer quality, affordable health care and flexible benefits plan options to all employees. When combined with the LiveWellSD and Employee Assistance Programs, State employees have all of the resources and options necessary to make informed health care decisions and healthier life choices.

Eligible State employees and their families will have access to four options including a zero deductible health plan, a low deductible health plan, and two high deductible health plans. Information on these and more can be found here.
